The Bigger Picture

It is not always low testosterone

Tiredness, low libido, poor sleep and slower recovery can come from several places. A good consultation looks at the whole picture before jumping to treatment.

Energy and sleep

Low energy and poor sleep can have several causes. A consultation helps narrow down what is most likely for you.

Sexual health

Low libido or erection problems can feel difficult to talk about, but they are common medical concerns.

Strength and recovery

Slower gym recovery, loss of strength or muscle changes may need a wider health check, not guesswork.

Mood and focus

Feeling flat, irritable or foggy can be linked to sleep, stress, hormones, medication or another health issue.

Weight and lifestyle

Weight change, alcohol, stress, training load and nutrition can all affect how you feel day to day.

General health checks

Sometimes the next step is a simple blood test or medical review to rule out common problems.

Medical information

This page is general information only. It does not replace a consultation, examination, diagnosis or personalised medical advice from a qualified clinician.

Testosterone is one possible part of the picture

Testosterone can affect energy, strength, recovery, mood, focus, libido and sexual health. But those same symptoms can also come from poor sleep, stress, thyroid problems, anaemia, medication, alcohol, weight change or low mood.

Symptoms alone do not confirm a testosterone problem. A doctor will usually look at your story, medical history and blood results together before discussing treatment.

The aim is not to sell testosterone. It is to understand what is causing the change and decide a safe next step.

Testosterone Treatment

Treatment should only be considered when it fits the full picture

Testosterone replacement therapy, often called TRT, is not a boost or shortcut. Testosterone replacement therapy is not suitable for everyone. It is a medical treatment considered only for selected men with clinically low testosterone when symptoms and blood results support that decision.

Before treatment is considered, a doctor needs to check whether it is safe for you, whether you want children, your prostate health, blood count, heart risk, possible side effects and what follow-up would be needed.

1

Tell us what changed

Your doctor will ask what feels different, when it started and what is affecting daily life.

2

Check the likely causes

Sleep, stress, medication, alcohol, training, weight, mood and other medical issues can all play a part.

3

Arrange tests if needed

If blood tests make sense, your doctor can explain what to check and how the results fit your symptoms.

4

Talk through options

If clinically low testosterone is confirmed, your doctor can explain safe options, monitoring or referral.

Blood tests, if they are needed

Not every appointment starts with a test. If testing is useful, it can help show whether testosterone is low and whether another common issue is contributing. Costa Health can help arrange blood tests locally in Marbella and across the Costa del Sol, then support follow-up review with a doctor.

Online Consultations

Speak to a doctor from home

Appointments are available online from Marbella, anywhere on the Costa del Sol or elsewhere in Spain. Residents, expats and visitors are welcome.

The appointment is there to help you feel listened to, informed and clear on next steps. If medication is appropriate, a licensed doctor can issue an electronic prescription in line with Spanish medical regulations.

Common Questions

Men's health FAQs

Can I book a men's health consultation online in Spain?
Yes. Costa Health can help arrange online consultations with independent, licensed doctors for men in Marbella, across the Costa del Sol and throughout Spain. If an in-person assessment, blood test or specialist referral is needed, your doctor will advise the safest next step.
Is this only about low testosterone?
No. Low energy, poor sleep, weight gain, reduced libido, slower recovery and low mood can have many causes. Testosterone may be part of the picture for some men, but stress, sleep, medication, thyroid problems, anaemia and mental health can also contribute.
Do I need blood tests before discussing testosterone?
Blood tests are usually needed before testosterone treatment is considered. A doctor will decide which tests are appropriate and interpret them alongside your symptoms, medical history and risk factors.
What does TRT mean?
TRT stands for testosterone replacement therapy. Testosterone replacement therapy is not suitable for everyone. It is a medical treatment for selected men with clinically low testosterone where symptoms and blood results support treatment. It should never be treated as a performance boost or a shortcut.
Will I be prescribed testosterone after one call?
Not automatically. Booking a consultation does not guarantee testosterone treatment. Your doctor needs to understand your symptoms, medical history, risk factors and blood results before discussing whether treatment is safe or appropriate.
Can a prescription be issued remotely?
If it is appropriate for your situation, a licensed doctor can issue an electronic prescription in line with Spanish medical regulations. Prescribing decisions are made by the doctor after assessment and are not guaranteed by booking a consultation.
What follow-up is needed if testosterone is prescribed?
Follow-up depends on your situation and treatment plan. It may include repeat testosterone checks, blood count, prostate checks, symptom review and side-effect monitoring. Your doctor will explain what is needed before treatment starts.
When should I seek urgent care instead of booking routinely?
Do not wait for a routine appointment if you have chest pain, severe shortness of breath, fainting, sudden weakness, new neurological symptoms, severe headache, signs of a blood clot, suicidal thoughts or symptoms that feel like an emergency. Call 112 in Spain or seek urgent medical care.
