Can an online GP write prescriptions in Spain?
Yes. Costa Health's GPs can issue electronic prescriptions (receta electrónica) that are accepted at any pharmacy in Spain. During your video consultation, if medication is needed, your GP will send the prescription digitally. You can collect it from your nearest pharmacy without delay. This applies to most standard medications, including antibiotics, pain relief and repeat prescriptions for ongoing conditions.
Is this service available to holidaymakers and tourists?
Yes. You don't need Spanish health insurance or residency to use Costa Health's online GP service. Consultations are in English, so there's no language barrier when describing symptoms or understanding advice. Whether you're visiting for a week or spending the winter on the Costa del Sol, you can book a same-day or next-day appointment online.
What if I need to see a doctor in person?

Can the online GP help with menopause symptoms?
Yes. Dr Melanie Lake and Dr Delgado have a dedicated focus on perimenopause and menopause support. They offer thorough assessment, HRT guidance, symptom management and ongoing monitoring. Menopause affects far more than hot flushes. Joint pain, brain fog, anxiety and sleep disruption are all common, and all treatable. All our collaborating doctors take a patient-centred approach that considers the full picture.
How much does an online consultation cost?
Consultations start from 80 euros. This includes the full video appointment, any prescriptions issued during the session, and a follow-up message if needed. Check the booking page for current availability and pricing. No Spanish insurance is required and there are no hidden fees.
