Permanent Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is the most effective, long-term solution available. It can be used almost anywhere on the body for all genders. Compared to methods such as waxing or shaving, it saves time and money, and most see up to a 90% reduction in hair growth.

At our Laser Hair Removal Clinic in Riviera, we have invested in one of the best technologies for permanent hair removal. We have a tri-cluster diode laser with the latest skin-cooling technology. Tri-cluster means the laser uses three different wavelengths of light; therefore, we can treat all skin types and most hair colours. The results are quick, relatively painless, and, most of all, give excellent permanent results.

Laser hair removal is an excellent treatment for ingrown hair. It helps to relieve skin irritation and stubble caused by shaving. It can also alleviate symptoms of excessive hair growth in medical conditions such as PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome).

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs about Laser Hair Removal

In the past, laser hair removal has been painful due to old technology using IPL systems. When choosing hair removal, always ask what laser machine the clinic chooses. Costa Health has a tri-cluster diode laser that uses the latest skin-cooling technology. Tri-cluster means the laser uses three different wavelengths of light; therefore, we can treat all skin types and most hair colours. The results are quick and, most importantly, pain-free.
We asked our client Gemma to give us some information about her underarm laser hair removal treatment.

“I found it to be quick. It wasn’t painful, but there was a slight sensation of warmth in the area. I was slightly aware of more heat where my hair was the thickest and darkest, but Sarah’s cooling technology settled it straight down. I couldn’t believe how painless it was and so so quick! I have tried hair removal previously and, honestly, was reluctant to try again as it hurt, and I didn’t get the results I had hoped. I had heard about Laser Hair Removal Marbella, and a few people had said how quick and painless it was, so I thought I would give it a go… I have been so impressed that I sent three more friends who were delighted.”

Laser hair removal involves the use of laser pulses. These pulses emit light into the skin that destroys the root and follicle of the hair. When the root and follicle are destroyed, hair can no longer grow. The hair must be targeted during an active growth phase for this process to work. However, individual hairs usually grow at different rates. Therefore, it takes several treatment sessions to capture every hair in the growth phase and produce optimal results.

You will see a difference two or three weeks after your first treatment, and it can take up to 8-12 treatments to achieve the total result. As explained at the consultation, some people get quicker results than others, depending on their hair type.

You also have to be regular with your appointments because your hair follicles are all at different stages of growth, and you want to make sure that you catch each one at its different cycle.

“Laser hair removal literally gets to the root of the problem,” says Sarah Monaghan at Costa Health. The laser targets the hair in its active growth stage.

Clients may see changes in the hair appearance after their first treatment, such as finer and less noticeable, but unless you are willing to go through a course and commit to regular sessions, you won’t get the optimal results.

Before your treatment, you will receive a Pre Laser Advice sheet. However, the main considerations are:

  • Avoid plucking or waxing

  • Shave the area to be treated

  • Avoid direct sunbathing 30 days before treatment

You need to be at least 18 years old, as hormones in the body are not entirely stable and mature before this age; therefore, the results are not guaranteed.

It is best to play it safe and avoid laser hair removal while you are pregnant. There is no evidence to suggest that it is unsafe, but there have not been long-term studies to analyze the effect of the laser on an unborn child.

No! This may surprise you: You don't have to grow your hair! The laser can react with hair on the skin’s surface, which will irritate and maybe cause the dreaded burnt hair smell, so the less hair, the better.

We request that you shave at home before and between appointments if needed.

So many people still believe that shaving causes thicker, darker hair! It is a typical beauty myth we must explain to our clients regularly.

We strongly advise avoiding going to the gym or exercising straight after treatment. The heat from the laser stays in your skin for 24 hours, so no gym, saunas, or hot showers. If you do, you risk creating a lovely warm environment for bacteria to multiply and give you spots.

You need to be aware of sun exposure and avoid sunbathing and sun exposure as much as possible, typically 30 days before and after treatment. At Costa Health, we insist on a consultation and patch test before treatment. At this time, laser technicians will discuss sun exposure, how to stay safe, and anything that might affect the timing of your appointments.

Absolutely! Many choose laser hair removal over shaving and waxing, encouraging straight hair growth. It is ideal for those who struggle with waxing due to ingrowing hairs and irritated skin from shaving.

Laser Hair Removal can be performed on the entire body except for the eyelids. Our most popular areas are:

  • legs

  • face

  • back

  • chest

  • arms

  • upper-lip

  • bikini

  • underarms
